Words
of Welcome

Dear
Colleagues,
Welcome
to the pages of Entergrate
magazine, a newly-launched business diversity publication
planned as a quarterly custom publication. We are issuing
a call to Fortune 500 companies, high growth industry organizations,
government agencies, associations and other non-profit organizations
to share success stories about contracting with minority and
women-owned businesses.
The
magazine is the first of its kind, almost exclusively devoted
to sharing best practices in minority and women business enterprise
procurement, is a venture of the African American Chamber
of Commerce of Westchester and Rockland Counties with underwriting
from Entergy Nuclear Northeast. The publication is designed
to appeal to those with procurement authority in organizations
across sectors offering insight on how to benefit from doing
business with minority contractors.
The
magazine will also serve as a resource for small businesses
seeking procurement opportunities with larger organizations
in Westchester and the surrounding areas. It will specifically
cover best practices in areas that include financial, marketing,
real estate, insurance health, procurement development, technology,
politics and law to name a few topics.
Entergrate
magazine could not have been possible without the hard work
of local business and community leaders like Miguel Blanco,
Ken Theobalds, Laurence Gottlieb, Melvin A. Burrus, Richard
Cacciato, Karen Croke, Deborah A. Fay, Ale Frederico, Douglas
Freeman, Al Gutierrez, Dr. Fletcher Jones, Maj Keecia A. Jones,
Monica Jones, Carole Lakin, Patricia Mulqueen, Lois Lane,
Francis Savage, Patricia L. Terry, John Tuller, Debra J. White,
Lyndon D. Williams, Esq..
As
you peruse the informative pages of Entergrate,
I would suggest that you use the magazine as a recourse guide
for benchmarking the progress of local political leaders during
the 05 election season. As stated by US Secretary of Commerce
Evans, "It is not the responsibility of government to make
its citizens rich—it is the responsibility of government
to create an environment for wealth to be attained by all
it citizens." As savvy M/WBEs, we don t have the luxury of
selecting a candidate based on tradition and emotion. We must
ask the hard questions, expect an answer and make our election
decision based on the deliverables.
I
hope you enjoy Entergrate
magazine and look forward to your contribution and comment.
Sincerely,
Robin
L. Douglas President/CEO/Founder African American Chamber
of Commerce of Westchester and Rockland Counties, Inc.
